THE LIFELONG ADVANTAGE OF THE RIGHT START
A child who enters kindergarten ready to learn is more likely to flourish in school, graduate on time, pursue higher learning and achieve financial stability. But many children lack access to the resources that set the stage for success. That’s why we launched PNC Grow Up Great in 2004 — to identify and fill the gaps that exist and give all children an equal footing. Supporting high-quality early childhood education can generate a return on investment of up to 13%, ensuring that our investment will pay dividends for years to come.
CORPORATE COMMITMENT. LOCAL CONNECTION.
At PNC, we know that our success as a company depends on the success of our neighbors in each community we serve. That’s why PNC Grow Up Great is supported in all PNC markets across the country and managed on a local level. Our regional presidents and key leaders work with local experts, policymakers and other influencers to identify early education needs and deliver the resources to meet them.
MY GROW UP GREAT STORY: CATHRYN HOLMES
“When I was 7, I went to a PNC Grow Up Great Mobile Learning Adventure in Pittsburgh. We could dress up as what we wanted to be when we grew up and have our picture taken. I was always into science, so I put on a lab coat and chose a lab as my background. That photo stayed on my family’s refrigerator for years. As it turned out, I went on to graduate from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in molecular and cell biology, genetics, genomics, evolution and development. I’m now a lab manager in a university environmental engineering department and hope to continue carving a path for women in higher levels of STEM. I’m lucky that I had a great early education, supportive parents and teachers who made learning fun.”
